Journey To Angeles

It seems Singapore is the travel hub around SEA with most of the budget airlines operating from there. So after spending a few nights in Singapore and a few more in Batam, Indonesia, booked a flight to Clark Airbase Angeles City with Tiger Airways.

Left for Clark Airbase on the Sunday and would be staying until the following Friday. So 5 nights to experience this place, that should be on every ones list. Booked a hotel from the following recommended site.
Orchid Resort looked good, in the centre of the action and a nice pool to relax maybe during the day. It took them over 24 hours to respond to my reservation request and then all the cheapest standard rooms had been taken. So had to go with a premium room. Did not want to turn up here without a hotel to head too.

The flight was fine, only about 2/3rds full, so had 3 seats to myself, took under 4 hours to arrive. And arrive I did!


Arrival
When I arrived I had no PI peso's. The ATM at the airport was not working. Taxi driver agreed to take me to an ATM first and then to the hotel. Which he did. The centre of Angeles is only 10 minute ride from the Clark airport.

The weather was really nice when I arrived and the people seemed very friendly. Checked into my hotel without any problems and the rooms were good and fully stocked with drinks,snacks and all the toiletries your heart could ever desire.

This was an exciting time, a moment to cherish. Things are always great in the beginning.
I had not quite got my conversions right and needed to goto an ATM again. Meant to get 20,000 pesos out but only got 2000. Stepping out of the hotel, you get kind of mobbed by all the street sellers. Alot are selling hard-on pills. Not sure if these are genuine or not. Anyway the way to take journeys around there is on motor tricycles. One took me to the ATM and back again for 200 peso's.

Fields Avenue
I headed out of my hotel and ended walking down Fields Avenue towards Insomnia. This road is the main drag.

The place felt like a more concentrated Pattaya. Lots going on and seems most of the Gogos were already open well before 7pm. Plenty of people about. Some of the mongers around were probably rejects from Pattaya.

And so i entered my first Gogo in AC - Insomnia.
Inside Insomnia's
Inside Insomnias was much like being in any gogo out of season. A few lonesome geazers sat at opposite ends to each other and mostly average looking girls in bright bikinis auto shuffling to popular tunes from the past and present.
